TPBG

TPBG, or trophoblast glycoprotein, is a transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the TPBG gene, initially identified in placental tissue. Its overexpression in many cancer cells correlates with tumor invasion, metastasis, and prognosis. TPBG antagonizes the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway by inhibiting LRP6 and Wnt receptor endocytosis, thereby impeding cell adhesion and cytoskeletal formation and promoting tumor cell migration and diffusion. TPBG's abnormal expression is associated with various cancer developments, making it a potential target for cancer therapy, with drug development targeting TPBG being an active area of exploration.
