MADCAM1

MAdCAM-1, also known as mucosal vascular addressin cell adhesion molecule 1, is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. As a transmembrane protein, it is selectively expressed on the vascular endothelial cells of intestinal mucosal lymphoid tissues. The structure of MAdCAM-1 contains three immunoglobulin-like domains and a mucin-like region, of which the first two domains can bind to the lymphocyte homing receptor α4β7, while the mucin-like domain binds to selectin L. It mainly participates in the homing process of lymphocytes, guiding them to migrate towards mucosal sites through interactions with its homing receptors. In addition, MAdCAM-1 also plays an important role in inflammatory reactions by regulating the passage and retention of leukocytes in the mucosal environment, affecting the development of inflammation. Therefore, MAdCAM-1 plays a key role in maintaining lymphocyte migration and inflammatory regulation in the body, and has become an important target for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and other diseases.
