Description

CD79B forms the signaling component of the B-cell receptor complex and is a validated target for therapeutic antibodies in B-cell malignancies, making reliable extracellular domain proteins essential for antibody development workflows. This construct spans residues 29–159 and demonstrates quantifiable antibody-binding activity with an EC50 of 31.97–35.69 ng/mL in functional ELISA, providing a suitable basis for competitive inhibition assays, blocking antibody screening, and therapeutic antibody epitope mapping. Mammalian expression preserves the native glycosylation and disulfide architecture required for physiologically relevant receptor-antibody interactions in surface plasmon resonance, biolayer interferometry, and affinity characterization experiments. Required in cooperation with CD79A for initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by the B-cell antigen receptor complex (BCR) which leads to internalization of the complex, trafficking to late endosomes and antigen presentation. Enhances phosphorylation of CD79A, possibly by recruiting kinases which phosphorylate CD79A or by recruiting proteins which bind to CD79A and protect it from dephosphorylation.
