Description
IL1RN functions as a natural competitive inhibitor of IL-1 signaling by binding the IL-1 receptor without triggering downstream NF-κB and MAPK activation, making it an essential tool for dissecting IL-1-dependent inflammatory pathways. This tag-free recombinant protein encompasses the full-length mature sequence (residues 26–177aa) and demonstrates robust inhibitory activity, with an ED50 below 40 ng/mL in an IL-1α-dependent D10S proliferation assay, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 2.5 × 10⁴ IU/mg. These functional data support use in cell-based proliferation and activation assays, IL-1 signaling pathway dissection, in vivo inflammation models, and as a reference standard for cytokine detection platforms such as ELISA. Purity above 96% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the stringent criteria needed to prevent LPS-driven artifacts in sensitive immune cell assays involving PBMCs, primary lymphocytes, or myeloid populations.
