Description

This ELISA kit provides quantitative measurement of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) in monkey samples, supporting immunological research where this cytokine serves as a central mediator of Th1-driven immune responses. Because IFN-γ is often measured alongside other cytokines to assess immune activation status in nonhuman primate models of infection, vaccination, or transplantation, this kit is designed to address the specific demands of those study designs.

Detection Range: The 6.25–400 pg/mL range captures IFN-γ concentrations typical of antigen-stimulated PBMC supernatants and serum from immune-challenged primates, where levels frequently fall between 10 and 300 pg/mL. Unstimulated baseline samples generally require no dilution, while mitogen-stimulated cultures may need predilution.

Sensitivity: At 3.125 pg/mL, the kit detects the low-level IFN-γ secretion characteristic of resting or minimally stimulated immune cells, enabling measurement in unstimulated control conditions and early post-vaccination timepoints.

Sample Compatibility: Validation across serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, and tissue homogenates allows researchers to correlate systemic IFN-γ levels with localized tissue responses and ex vivo cellular recall assays within a single study.

Type II interferon produced by immune cells such as T-cells and NK cells that plays crucial roles in antimicrobial, antiviral, and antitumor responses by activating effector immune cells and enhancing antigen presentation. Primarily signals through the JAK-STAT pathway after interaction with its receptor IFNGR1 to affect gene regulation. Upon IFNG binding, IFNGR1 intracellular domain opens out to allow association of downstream signaling components JAK2, JAK1 and STAT1, leading to STAT1 activation, nuclear translocation and transcription of IFNG-regulated genes. Many of the induced genes are transcription factors such as IRF1 that are able to further drive regulation of a next wave of transcription. Plays a role in class I antigen presentation pathway by inducing a replacement of catalytic proteasome subunits with immunoproteasome subunits. In turn, increases the quantity, quality, and repertoire of peptides for class I MHC loading.
