Description
Thrombopoietin is the primary physiological regulator of megakaryopoiesis and platelet production, acting through the c-Mpl receptor to drive progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation. This tag-free recombinant mouse Thpo fragment (residues 22–195) encompasses the receptor-binding domain, and its potency is confirmed by an ED50 below 1.0 ng/ml in a MO7e cell proliferation assay, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 1.0 × 10⁶ IU/mg — providing a reliable standard for megakaryocyte colony-stimulating assays, stem cell expansion studies, and receptor-ligand binding experiments using ELISA or SPR. The E. coli expression system yields a non-glycosylated protein, which is advantageous when researchers need to isolate receptor-binding kinetics from glycosylation-dependent variables, and the partial sequence focuses on the biologically active N-terminal domain responsible for c-Mpl engagement.
