TLR7, or Toll-like receptor 7, is a protein located in the endosomes of cells and is expressed mainly in tissues such as the lungs, placenta, and spleen.The mechanism of action of TLR7 is to activate the natural immune response by recognising viral single-stranded RNA, which in turn promotes the formation of antiviral adaptive immunity.TLR7 is essential for the body's antiviral immune defence, as it rapidly initiates an immune response to inhibit viral replication and spread.
