EGFR, or epidermal growth factor receptor, alias HER1, ErbB1, is encoded by the human EGFR gene, which is located on chromosome 7 in region 7p12. EGFR is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein, a tyrosine kinase-type receptor with a molecular weight of approximately 170 kDa.
Its mechanism of action involves activation upon binding to specific ligands such as EGF and TGF-α, leading to homo- or heterodimerization of the receptor, which in turn triggers tyrosine autophosphorylation and the activation of multiple downstream pathways (e.g., MAPK, PI3K/PKB, and STAT), which sequentially trigger gene transcription and control cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival.
EGFR plays an important role in the regulation of cell proliferation, survival and differentiation. Overexpression or over-increased activity of EGFR has been associated with the development of many cancers, including lung cancer, anal cancer and glioblastoma multiforme, and it is one of the important targets for cancer therapy.

IHC image of CSB-RA159341MA1HU diluted at 1:50 and staining in paraffin-embedded human lung cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a Goat anti-rabbit polymer IgG labeled by HRP and visualized using 0.05% DAB.

Overlay Peak curve showing NIH/3T3 cells stained with CSB-RA159341MA1HU (red line) at 1:100. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde (15min) and permeated by 0.2% TritonX-100 for 10min. Then 10% normal goat serum to block non-specific protein-protein interactions followed by the antibody (1ug/1*106cells) for 45min at 4℃. The secondary antibody used was FITC-conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L) at 1/200 dilution for 35 min at 4°C. Isotype control antibody (green line) was mouse IgG1 (1µg/1*106cells) used under the same conditions. Acquisition of >10,000 events was performed.
