CEACAM6

CEACAM6, carcinoembryonic antigen-associated cell adhesion molecule 6, alias NCA, CEAL, CD66c, NCA-50/90, is encoded by the human CEACAM6 gene, which is located on chromosome 19.
CEACAM6 is an immunoglobulin superfamily protein expressed mainly on the epithelial surface and in myeloid cells, and plays an important role in cancer progression by inhibiting apoptosis, promoting drug resistance and facilitating cancer cell invasion and metastasis. Its mechanism of action involves the regulation of epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT), tumor invasion and metastasis, as well as participation in tumor cell adhesion and drug resistance by affecting the Src/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.
Overexpression of CEACAM6 in a variety of cancers, including lung, breast, colorectal and hepatocellular carcinoma, is associated with poor prognosis and is a promising cancer marker and therapeutic target.
