Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
G protein-coupled receptor for follitropin, the follicle-stimulating hormone. The activity of isoform FSH-R1 is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylate cyclase. Isoform FSH-R2 and isoform FSH-R3 also bind FSH, but this does not result in activation of adenylate cyclase. Isoform FSH-R3 may be involved in calcium signaling. Through cAMP production activates the downstream PI3K-AKT and ERK1/ERK2 signaling pathways.
Gene References into Functions
  1. BB mutation-induced attenuation of BMPR1B signaling led to an increased density of the FSH receptor and LH receptor and a concurrent reduction in apoptosis PMID:25948249
  2. Combined effect analyses indicated an extremely significant interaction between the random combinations of BMPR-IB, BMP-15 and FSHR genes on litter size. PMID:25993301
  3. molecular cloning and characterization results identified a synonymous mutation in the ovine FSHR gene to be significantly associated with the litter size. PMID:25103022
  4. Single nucleotide polymorphisms of 5' regulatory region of follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) gene were detected in two high prolificacy sheep breeds and two low prolificacy sheep breeds. PMID:21725846
