Description
MIA functions as a secreted factor in melanoma biology, modulating cell proliferation and tumor microenvironment interactions—making validated recombinant forms essential for mechanistic studies. This tag-free protein spans residues 25–131, representing the full-length mature sequence, and demonstrates an ED50 of less than 5 μg/ml in A375 cell proliferation assays, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 200 IU/mg. Because MIA lacks glycosylation sites critical to its function, E. coli expression yields a biologically active protein suitable for receptor-ligand binding studies via SPR or ELISA, tumor biology models, and use as a quantitative standard in antibody characterization assays. Purity exceeding 98% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for cell-based proliferation and survival assays without confounding inflammatory artifacts.
