Description
IL-16 functions as a CD4-selective chemoattractant cytokine that bridges innate and adaptive immunity, and this tag-free recombinant form faithfully represents the mature 1212–1332 aa sequence, ensuring native-like receptor engagement. Biological activity has been confirmed through a T lymphocyte chemotaxis bioassay, with functional potency observed at 50–500 ng/ml using human peripheral T cells—data that supports use in migration assays, CD4⁺ T cell activation studies, and downstream signaling investigations involving p56lck and PI3K pathways. Endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg minimize LPS-driven artifacts that commonly confound immune cell functional readouts, making this protein appropriate for sensitive in vivo inflammation models and primary cell-based assays where cytokine-specific effects must be cleanly resolved. Purity exceeding 95% by SDS-PAGE, combined with this stringent endotoxin profile, also provides a suitable basis for use as a reference standard in cytokine detection assays or as a positive control in ELISA and western blot validation workflows.
