Description
IL-6 is a pleiotropic cytokine central to JAK/STAT3 signaling, acute-phase responses, and lymphocyte differentiation, making validated bioactivity essential for meaningful functional studies. This tag-free recombinant human IL-6, spanning the full mature sequence (30–212 aa), demonstrates potent activity with an ED50 below 0.1 ng/mL in 7TD1 proliferation assays (specific activity >1.0 × 10⁷ IU/mg) and below 0.8 ng/mL in T1165 cells, providing a reliable basis for dose-dependent proliferation assays, STAT3 phosphorylation studies, and B-cell or myeloma differentiation experiments. Endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg minimize LPS-driven artifacts that can confound cytokine-specific readouts in primary immune cell cultures and in vivo inflammation models. Purity exceeding 96% by SDS-PAGE, combined with this stringent endotoxin profile, supports use as a reference standard in IL-6 detection assays and as a positive control for antibody validation by ELISA or Western blot.
