Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Growth factor that binds to EGFR, ERBB4 and other EGF receptor family members. Potent mitogen for retinal pigment epithelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells.
Gene References into Functions

  2. The results of this study suggested a novel regulatory role of Btc in axon-Schwann cell interactions involved in myelin formation and nerve repair. PMID:28139851
  3. BTC induces expansion of neural stem cells and neuroblasts, and promotes neurogenesis in the olfactory bulb and dentate gyrus. PMID:22232668
  4. Betacellulin exerts proliferative activity on beta cells through the activation of ErbB-1 and ErbB-2 receptors PMID:21897861
  5. BTC overexpression enhances glucose-induced insulin secretion in Mesenchyma Stem Cells PMID:20836700
  6. Betacellulin protects from pancreatitis by activating stress-activated protein kinase. PMID:20038432
  7. Excess of betacellulin exerts no deleterious effects on the structure or function of the male reproductive tract in mice. PMID:19931240
  8. structure of the BTC gene PMID:12031500
  9. Defective valvulogenesis in HB-EGF and TACE-null mice is associated with aberrant BMP signaling. PMID:12773386
  10. Mice overexpressing BTC exhibit high early postnatal mortality, reduced body weight gain, impaired longitudinal growth, cataract, retinal and bone abnormalities, and lung disease. PMID:16179416
  11. identified hitherto unknown effects of betacellulin (BTC) overabundance in reproduction and suggests BTC as a novel candidate protein for the modulation of fertility. PMID:17914071
  12. role of BTC in the regulation of epidermal homeostasis, hair follicle morphogenesis and cycling, and wound angiogenesis PMID:17960175
  13. Overexpression of BTC results in an EGFR-dependent upregulation of cortical bone mass in the appendicular skeleton of mice. PMID:19049329
  14. Long-term BTC overabundance does not alter pancreatic islet structure and beta-cell mass, but enhances glucose-induced insulin secretion in vivo as well as in vitro. PMID:19100309
