ULBP2

ULBP2, or UL16 binding protein 2, is alias N2DL2, RAET1H, NKG2DL2, and ALCAN-alpha. It is a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I-associated molecule, encoded by a human gene and located on chromosome 6q25.1.
ULBP2 binds to the NKG2D receptor on natural killer (NK) cells, triggering the release of a variety of cytokines and chemokines, which promotes NK cell recruitment and activation. Many malignant cells secrete this protein to evade immune surveillance by NK cells.
ULBP2 plays an important role in anti-infection immunity, anti-tumor immunity and autoimmunity, and it not only serves as a functional ligand for NKG2D, but may also directly activate γδ T cells through the TCRγδ1 pathway and play a role in anti-tumor immune responses.
