PVR

The protein encoded by the PVR gene, also known as poliovirus receptor, is a transmembrane glycoprotein. It is commonly referred to as CD155 and has been implicated in various cellular processes, including cell adhesion, migration, and immune regulation. PVR interacts with immune cell receptors such as DNAM-1, TIGIT, and CD96, influencing immune cell activation or inhibition. This protein is overexpressed in several human malignancies, where it promotes tumor cell invasion, migration, and proliferation. The PVR pathway is involved in tumor immunosuppression and is a target for anti-tumor therapies, including checkpoint inhibitors and adoptive cell therapies. Research into PVR as a therapeutic target has led to the development of novel drugs and immunotherapies.
