PIK3R3

PIK3R3, also known as phospholipid-inositol-3 kinase regulatory subunit 3, has alternative names including p55 and p55PIK. PIK3R3 is a regulatory subunit of phospholipid-inositol-3 kinase (PI3K), containing two SH2 domains. Through these domains, it can bind to activated protein tyrosine kinases to regulate their activity. PIK3R3 binds to the catalytic subunit of PI3K and interacts with the p110 catalytic subunit via the iSH2 domain, participating in intracellular signaling, particularly in growth factor signaling pathways. PIK3R3 plays a crucial role in cell proliferation, tumor growth, inflammatory responses, and lipid metabolism. Abnormal expression of PIK3R3 is associated with the development and progression of various cancers, including ovarian cancer, and may be involved in regulating the characteristics and functions of cancer stem cells, influencing tumor progression and chemotherapy resistance.
