NGFR

The NGFR (Nerve Growth Factor Receptor) is a protein coding gene that encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase. It is also known as CD271, p75NTR, TNFRSF16, and p75(NTR). NGFR plays a crucial role in neuronal survival, cell death, neurite outgrowth, and neuronal differentiation. It functions by binding to its ligands, such as NGF (Nerve Growth Factor) and BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor), and activating intracellular signaling pathways. NGFR is involved in various signaling pathways, including the neurotrophin signaling pathway. Diseases associated with NGFR mutations include Alzheimer's disease, diabetic neuropathy, and anhidrosis.
