KLRC2

KLRC2, also known as NKG2C, is a protein coding gene that encodes a protein involved in immune regulation. The protein, NKG2-C type II integral membrane protein, is a calcium-dependent lectin-like receptor expressed on natural killer (NK) cells. It plays a crucial role in self-nonself discrimination and innate immunity by recognizing non-classical MHC class Ib molecules, such as HLA-E and HLA-G. KLRC2 interacts with KLRD1 to form a receptor complex that transmits signals through the adapter protein TYROBP/DAP12, leading to cell activation and effector functions in NK cells. This protein is associated with various diseases, including human cytomegalovirus infection and NK cell deficiency.
