HTR7

HTR7, 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 7, also known as 5-HT7. HTR7 is encoded by the human HTR7 gene, which is located on chromosome 10 in the q23.31 region.
HTR7 is a G-protein-coupled receptor belonging to the GPCR superfamily, which is involved in a variety of cognitive and behavioral functions. Its mechanism of action is to activate G proteins by binding to the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT), which in turn stimulates adenylyl cyclase and affects intracellular signaling.
HTR7 is thought to be a candidate locus involved in autism and other neuropsychiatric disorders, and its abnormality may be associated with a variety of neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and migraines. Expression of HTR7 is found to be in testicular and bladder tissues with a preference and has been associated with a variety of physiological processes and disease states, such as modulation of pain perception, immune responses, etc.
