CD34

CD34, also known as CD34 antigen or PECAM-1, is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on hematopoietic stem cells and endothelial cells. Its primary function is to mediate cell adhesion and migration, playing a crucial role in hematopoiesis and angiogenesis. CD34 interacts with various ligands, including L-selectin and integrins, to regulate cell movement. It is involved in several signaling pathways, including the PI3K/Akt and JAK/STAT pathways. CD34 expression is associated with various diseases, including leukemia, lymphoma, and cardiovascular disorders. In drug development, CD34 is a potential target for therapies aimed at modulating hematopoiesis and angiogenesis.
