BIN1, Myc box-dependent-interacting protein 1, also known as AMPH2, AMPHL, MGC10367, SH3P9, AmphiphysinII, is a protein that is expressed in a variety of tissues in the human body, particularly in the central nervous system, and the encoding gene is located on chromosome 2.
BIN1 protein contains several structural domains, including BAR domain, SH3 domain and PRD, etc. These domains give BIN1 the ability to participate in the regulation of membrane curvature and protein interactions. BIN1 participates in the dynamic remodeling of cell membranes as well as in endocytosis through the formation of a network of proteins, which affects cell division, apoptosis, and cell signaling.
