APOH

APOH encodes apolipoprotein H, also known as beta - 2 - glycoprotein I. This protein is a plasma glycoprotein with multiple functions. It binds to negatively charged surfaces like phospholipids and modulates the activity of various coagulation factors. It is involved in the intrinsic coagulation pathway and the complement system.
APOH is associated with several diseases, including antiphospholipid syndrome, where autoantibodies target it. In drug development, there is ongoing research to design specific inhibitors or modulators of APOH - related pathways to manage these diseases, aiming to improve patient outcomes.
