Form
Liquid or Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Storage
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself. Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20℃/-80℃. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20℃/-80℃.
Lead Time
Basically, we can dispatch the products out in 3-7 working days after receiving your orders. Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4℃ for up to one week.

Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Catalyzes the phosphorylation of hexose, such as D-glucose and D-fructose, to hexose 6-phosphate (D-glucose 6-phosphate and D-fructose 6-phosphate, respectively). Mediates the initial step of glycolysis by catalyzing phosphorylation of D-glucose to D-glucose 6-phosphate. Plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the outer mitochondrial membrane by preventing the release of apoptogenic molecules from the intermembrane space and subsequent apoptosis.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Loss of mtHKII was associated with increased ROS during ischemia and reperfusion, but not with increased MVO2 or decreased cardiac energetics before damage occurs. PMID:28258543
  2. report that HK2 is a direct target of miR-143. Importantly, restoration of HK2 in miR-143 overexpressing rat neurones recovered glucose uptake and lactate product. PMID:28522551
  3. the Akt/HK2 pathway is likely to play a role in the development of a cardioprotective phenotype of CNH by preventing the detachment of HK2 from mitochondria at reperfusion period and decreases the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio during I/R insult, thereby lowering the probability of apoptosis activation in the mitochondrial compartment. PMID:28290047
  4. HK-II binds TORC1 as a decoy substrate and provides a previously unrecognized mechanism for switching cells from a metabolic economy, based on plentiful energy, to one of conservation, under starvation PMID:24462113
  5. Inhibition of mitochondrial HK2 loss during ischemia could be an important mechanism responsible for the cardioprotection mediated by ischemic preconditioning and other pretreatments. PMID:23525412
  6. The activation of the hexokinase-2/hypoxia-inducible factor-1alpha axis appears to be the key mediator for neointimal lesion formation in a model of pulmonary arterial hypertension. PMID:22627259
  7. Data suggest that (1) the existence of a tight crosstalk of TGF-beta and BMP2 pathways in HSCs and (2) a Smad7 dependently decreased sugar metabolism ameliorates HSC activation probably by energy withdrawal. PMID:21049555
  8. differential methylation patterns for the HKII gene in normal hepatocytes and hepatoma cells PMID:12566445
  9. Ectopic expression of the amino-terminal half of hexokinase II, which is catalytically active and contains the mitochondrion-binding domain, consistently antagonized tBID-induced apoptosis. PMID:14701745
  10. cyclophilin D suppresses apoptotic cell death via a mitochondrial hexokinase II-dependent mechanism in cancer cells PMID:16551620
  11. calcium signalling is involved in regulating the peroxisome proliferative activated receptor gamma coactivator 1 alpha and HKII genes, but not pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 4 PMID:17516843
  12. HKII is the predominant isoform in rat hepatocarcinoma AS-30D and HeLa cells. PMID:19681047
