Buffer
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm sterile filtered PBS, 6% Trehalose, pH 7.4
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-81°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Lead Time
3-7 business days
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4℃ for up to one week.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, storage temperature and the stability of the product itself. Generally, the shelf life of lyophilized form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C from the date of receipt.

Description

FGF2 is a critical mitogen in mesenchymal and neuroectodermal lineage biology, and this recombinant sheep ortholog spans the complete mature protein (aa 10–155), preserving the heparin-binding domain essential for receptor engagement and signaling. Functional validation demonstrates dose-dependent proliferation of NIH-3T3 fibroblasts with an ED50 of 3.791–5.569 ng/mL, confirming receptor-binding potency that supports use in cell proliferation assays, stem cell maintenance protocols, and osteogenic or neuronal differentiation studies where FGF2 serves as a defined medium supplement. Yeast expression yields a non-glycosylated protein that recapitulates the native mature form, providing a suitable basis for receptor-ligand binding experiments, including ELISA and surface plasmon resonance competition assays. Purity exceeding 95% by SDS-PAGE and endotoxin below 1.0 EU/μg align with standards expected in angiogenesis models, wound healing assays, and antibody characterization workflows requiring low-background, bioactive growth factor preparations.

Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Acts as a ligand for FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. Also acts as an integrin ligand which is required for FGF2 signaling. Binds to integrin ITGAV:ITGB3. Plays an important role in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, cell differentiation and cell migration. Functions as a potent mitogen in vitro. Can induce angiogenesis. Mediates phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and thereby promotes retinal lens fiber differentiation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. FGF2 mRNA expression was higher in immature and mature oocytes and gradually decreases from 2-cell stage of embryo to the blastocyst stage; a significant differences in FGF2 mRNA expression were observed between immature oocytes and all pre-implantation stages of embryo. PMID:29638025
  2. this study demonstrated the presence of fibroblast growth factor 2 in ovine ovaries and that it inhibits apoptosis and promotes ovine follicle growth PMID:24750547
  3. These results suggest that bFGF, VEGF-C and PDGF-C have roles in the pathogenesis of ovine pulmonary adenomatosis. PMID:22721818
  4. proximal fibroblast growth factor (FGF2/FGFR1) signaling is compartmentalized in the placental endothelial caveolae via the FGFR substrate 2alpha that mediates formation of a FRS2alpha-GRB2-GAB1 complex PMID:22674390
  5. Exogenous human FGF-2 increased endogenous FGF-2 promoter activity and protein levels in ovine pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells. PMID:17942638
  6. Reduced fetal and placental weights in twins and/or triplet pregnancies are associated with an overall decrease in total placental vascularity, VEGF and FGF2 and/or FGFR protein expression. PMID:18392787
