Target Background

Function
Tyrosine-protein kinase that plays an essential role as cell surface receptor for neuregulins. Binds to neuregulin-1 (NRG1) and is activated by it; ligand-binding increases phosphorylation on tyrosine residues and promotes its association with the p85 subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. May also be activated by CSPG5. Involved in the regulation of myeloid cell differentiation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. While no changes occur for ErbB2, ErbB4 and Nrg1, an increase of ErbB3 expression occurs after I/R injury, with and without PostC. PMID:28162790
  2. NTAK/NRG2 secreted from astrocytes bound to ErbB3 on neurons, and promoted neuronal survival and neurite extension in vitro. PMID:27113200
  3. Sox2 promotes satellite glial cell survival through the MAPK pathway via Erbb2-Erbb3 receptors. PMID:26116536
  4. we demonstrated the involvement of ErbB receptors in the regulation of neurite elongation and sodium current induction in PC12 cells PMID:23380500
  5. Binding of L1CAM to erbB enhances its response to neuregulins. PMID:22815787
  6. Alternative transcription initiation results in the formation of a nuclear variant of ErbB3 in rat primary Schwann cells. PMID:21451047
  7. ErbB3 may participate in tooth morphogenesis PMID:12112465
  8. Constitutive activation of the neuregulin-1/ErbB receptor signaling pathway is essential for the proliferation of a neoplastic Schwann cell line. PMID:12838503
  9. Dexamethasone exerts a time-dependent and redundant inhibitory effect on Egfr-mediated proliferative signaling in hepatocytes, targeting ErbB proteins and their positive/negative effectors. PMID:17585012
  10. The erbB3 expression was significantly elevated in well-differentiated carcinoma in normal animals. PMID:17704947
  11. disruption of surface HSP90/HER-2 interaction leads to inhibition of heregulin-induced HER-2-HER-3 heterodimer formation, reduced HER-2 phosphorylation, and impaired downstream kinase signaling. PMID:18056992
  12. Data show that the expression of ErbB3 mRNAs is upregulated after end-to-end and end-to-side nerve regeneration in the rat median nerve model. PMID:18845940
