Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Integrin alpha-1/beta-1 is a receptor for laminin and collagen. It recognizes the proline-hydroxylated sequence G-F-P-G-E-R in collagen. Involved in anchorage-dependent, negative regulation of EGF-stimulated cell growth.
Gene References into Functions
  1. periodic mechanical stress induced ECM expression and the migration of NP cells via upregulating the expression of integrin alpha1 and the phosphorylation of downstream PLCgamma1. These findings provide novel information to aid the understanding of the pathogenesis and development of IDD. PMID:27484337
  2. This study shows that E2 protects against apoptosis in a time-dependent manner, and alpha1 integrin-mediated adhesion to collagen II is essential for estrogen-dependent anti-apoptosis in rat annulus fibrosus cells in vitro. PMID:27108411
  3. Alpha1beta1 and integrin-linked kinase interact and modulate angiotensin II effects on vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation/migration. PMID:26520903
  4. Dynamic structural changes are observed upon collagen and metal ion binding to the integrin alpha1 I domain. PMID:22847004
  5. Data suggest that endothelin-1 promotes collagen matrix reorganization through the enhancement of mesangial cell alpha1beta1 integrin-dependent migration and MMP-2 activity. PMID:12459174
  6. Pretreatment of mature hippocampal neurons with either echistatin or alpha(1) integrin-blocking antibodies prevented beta-amyloid-induced MAPK activation. The blockage of alpha(1) activation prevented cell death induced by beta-amyloid. PMID:14991844
  7. After spinal cord contusion, the area of alpha1beta1 integrin positive blood vessels increases within 11 mm from the injury site at 3 days post-injury and remains prominent within the injured core only at 7 days. PMID:17161391
  8. Alpha(1)beta(1)-integrin has a key role in flow (shear stress)-dependent vasodilation in resistance arteries by transmitting the signal to eNOS through activation of PI3-kinase and Akt. PMID:18245559
