Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Enhances all basic T-cell responses to a foreign antigen, namely proliferation, secretion of lymphokines, up-regulation of molecules that mediate cell-cell interaction, and effective help for antibody secretion by B-cells. Essential both for efficient interaction between T and B-cells and for normal antibody responses to T-cell dependent antigens. Does not up-regulate the production of interleukin-2, but superinduces the synthesis of interleukin-10. Prevents the apoptosis of pre-activated T-cells. Plays a critical role in CD40-mediated class switching of immunoglobin isotypes.
Gene References into Functions
  1. ICOS-targeted siRNA can effectively silence gene expression of ICOS, and provided satisfactory treatment efficacy for myocardial cell hypertrophy after infarction. PMID:27323062
  2. ICOS siRNA can protect brain tissues from ischemia injuries after cerebral infarction, improve limb movement and coordination, lower the mortality rate of rats, and inhibit T cell-induced cytokines PMID:26436531
  3. our data highlight a key role for ICOS signaling in the generation of imbalanced production of IL-10 and IL-17 by Treg cells in a rat model of spondyloarthritis. PMID:24909668
