Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Transcriptional regulator (lacking a basic DNA binding domain) which negatively regulates the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors by forming heterodimers and inhibiting their DNA binding and transcriptional activity. Implicated in regulating a variety of cellular processes, including cellular growth, senescence, differentiation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and neoplastic transformation. Inhibits skeletal muscle and cardiac myocyte differentiation. Regulates the circadian clock by repressing the transcriptional activator activity of the CLOCK-ARNTL/BMAL1 heterodimer.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Via RNAi, it was found that ID1 induction was inhibited with silencing of HIF-1alpha. Moreover, the suppression of ID1 mRNA expression could lead to decreased expression and transcription of HIF-1alpha during hypoxia and reoxygenation. In addition, it was demonstrated that both ID1 and HIF-1alpha can regulate the transcription of twist PMID:27127787
  2. These results thus established a signaling cascade of "Abeta --> Id1 --> HIF-1 --> SHH" in primary rat cortical cultures; furthermore, SHH may in part contribute to amyloid beta neurotoxicity. PMID:25502463
  3. Smad1 as a novel binding protein of KSHV latency-associated nuclear antigen (LANA). LANA interacted with and sustained BMP-activated p-Smad1 in the nucleus and enhanced its loading on the Id promoters. PMID:25010525
  4. These data suggest that BMP4 may regulate survival through the Id1/EGFR pathway during development of the rat inner ear. PMID:23335245
  5. Results suggest that the Id1/PI3K/Akt/NFkappaB/survivin signalling pathway plays a critical role in endothelial progenitor cell proliferation. PMID:22139302
  6. Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 enhanced mesenchymal stem cell Id1 expression, required for vascular differentiation and spatial organisation, under normoxic conditions. PMID:21472453
  7. Prostacyclin analogues inhibited smooth muscle cell proliferation and prevented progression of pulmonary hypertension while enhancing Smad1/5 phosphorylation and Id1 gene expression. PMID:20522807
  8. the exclusion of Id-1 from GFAP-positive cells, and expression in a population of vimentin-positive pineal astrocytes is evidence of a role for Id-1 in the adult stabilization of one form of astrocyte PMID:12495223
  9. Treatment of PC12 cells with recombinant Tat enhances the NGF-induced Id1 expression, further pointing to Id1 as a target for Tat. PMID:15361847
  10. induced in the presence of Epstein-Barr virus LMP1 and confirmed by mRNA and protein in C33A and Rat-1 cells PMID:15564458
  11. overexpression of ID1 and ID2 genes in a postmitotic, terminally differentiated cell type (Sertoli cells)have the capacity to induce reentry into the cell cycle PMID:15647457
  12. ID-1 proteins play an important role in the development of acquired drug resistance to various drugs of prostate cancer cells. (Id-1) PMID:15809768
  13. Expression of all 4 members of the Id family of transcription factors is differentially regulated in response to orchidectomy along the epididymis. PMID:16304207
  14. A 31-bp sequence (Box-2 region), located between -200 and -169bp in the Id-1 promoter is necessary for the promoter activity. PMID:16638616
  15. Drug resistant prostate cancer cells displayed significantly increased expression of ID1 compared with other prostate cancer PMID:16728343
  16. The proliferative action of Id1 on the organ of Corti is mediated by nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) and cyclin D1 in the embryonic cochlea. PMID:17149750
