Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
The steroid hormones and their receptors are involved in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression and affect cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues. Depending on the isoform, progesterone receptor functions as transcriptional activator or repressor.; Ligand-dependent transdominant repressor of steroid hormone receptor transcriptional activity including repression of its isoform B, MR and ER. Transrepressional activity may involve recruitment of corepressor NCOR2.; Transcriptional activator of several progesteron-dependent promoters in a variety of cell types. Involved in activation of SRC-dependent MAPK signaling on hormone stimulation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Marginal activity of progesterone receptor B in dogs but high incidence of mammary cancer PMID:25158022
  2. ER, PgR and E-cadherin are expressed in canine mammary gland columnar cell lesions; cytokeratin 34betaE-12, HER-2 and P53 are not expressed PMID:20178635
  3. The roles of leukemia inhibitory factor and progesterone receptor expression on the establishment and maintenance of canine pregnancy are reported. PMID:19754547
  4. It was found that canine oocytes express estrogen receptor alpha and estrogen receptor beta throughout the oestrous cycle, however, there is a lack of progesterone receptor expression in all these phases. PMID:19754577
  5. In bitches no significant variation in PR expression was observed between normal tissue, dysplasias, and benign neoplasms, but was significantly lower in mammary carcinomas PMID:16054892
