Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Acts downstream of smo as an intracellular repressor of hedgehog signaling pathway, mainly through the suppression of gli1 activity. This negative regulatory effect is enhanced in conjunction with the suppressor of fused (sufu) protein. Positively regulates gli2a activity by promoting its dissociation from sufu. Involved in the regulation of microtubular dynamics.
Gene References into Functions
  1. both osm-3/kif17 and cos2/kif7 have comparable outer segment developmental delays, although through independent mechanisms. PMID:28341548
  2. We show that Kif7 interacts with both Gli1 and Gli2a and suggest that it functions to sequester Gli proteins in the cytoplasm, in a manner analogous to the regulation of Ci by Cos2 in Drosophila PMID:24339784
  3. zebrafish Costal2 acts as an intracellular repressor of signal transduction PMID:15647323
