Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Acts as a transcriptional activator that mediates transcriptional activation by binding to E box-containing promoter (5'-CANNTG-3'). Acts as a differentiation factor during neurogenesis. Induces photoreceptor cell overproduction in vivo and de novo generation in vitro. May play a role in photoreceptor cell production.
Gene References into Functions
  1. NeuroD induces the expression of visinin and calretinin in developing retinal cells PMID:14991711
  2. induced by ath5; participates in a pathway of "ath5 --> neuroD --> photoreceptor genes" PMID:15306648
