Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
On ligand binding, forms a receptor complex consisting of two type II and two type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. Type II receptors phosphorylate and activate type I receptors which autophosphorylate, then bind and activate SMAD transcriptional regulators. Receptor for activin A, activin B and inhibin A. May modulate neuropeptide expression in dorsal root ganglia (DRG) neurons and ovarian follicle development.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Between broiler and layer lines, there were no significant changes in expression of the ACVR2A gene during embryonic stages but it varied significantly during the post-hatch period. The shRNA showed silencing of the ACVR2A gene under an in vitro cell culture system. PMID:27635666
  2. Chicken ACVR2A & ACVR2B cause formation of ectopic axial structures in amphibian embryos. Authors conclude that ACVR2 receptors affect axial patterning (GO:0009798 axis specification) PMID:7589799
