Troponin I is the inhibitory subunit of troponin, the thin filament regulatory complex which confers calcium-sensitivity to striated muscle actomyosin ATPase activity.

An Ala8Val mutation enhances the effect of cardiac troponin I pseudophosphorylation on the rate of dissociation of calcium from reconstituted thin filaments. PMID:22489623
Serum cardiac troponin I cannot be used to distinguish cattle with pericarditis from cattle with other primary cardiac diseases or noncardiac, intrathoracic disorders. PMID:19496907
