Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Clathrin is the major protein of the polyhedral coat of coated pits and vesicles. Two different adapter protein complexes link the clathrin lattice either to the plasma membrane or to the trans-Golgi network. Acts as component of the TACC3/ch-TOG/clathrin complex proposed to contribute to stabilization of kinetochore fibers of the mitotic spindle by acting as inter-microtubule bridge. The TACC3/ch-TOG/clathrin complex is required for the maintenance of kinetochore fiber tension. Plays a role in early autophagosome formation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. three different clathrin-box motif peptides can each simultaneously bind not only to the previously characterized clathrin-box site but also to the W-box site and the beta-arrestin splice loop site on a single TD. PMID:25844500
  2. Structure of clathrin coat with bound Hsc70 and auxilin. PMID:20033059
  3. clathrin-FKBP36-Hsp72 complexes resulting from both identified interactions are bound to the matrices of clathrin-coated vesicles in spermatocytes, which indicates a possible role of FKBP36 and Hsp72 in the disassembly of clathrin coats PMID:18529014
