Description

The C5 polyclonal antibody was prepared by immunizing rabbits with the recombinant pig complement C5a anaphylatoxin protein (1-74aa). The antibody underwent purification through protein G chromatography, and the purity of the resulting antibody is over 95%, indicating a highly specific preparation.

This C5 polyclonal antibody has been tested in ELISA and IHC applications. This antibody is suitable to detect and quantify the C5a fragment, investigate its interactions with other proteins, and study the localization and function of the C5a fragment.

Derived from proteolytic degradation of complement C5, C5a anaphylatoxin is a mediator of local inflammatory process. Binding to the receptor C5AR1 induces a variety of responses including intracellular calcium release, contraction of smooth muscle, increased vascular permeability, and histamine release from mast cells and basophilic leukocytes. C5a is also a potent chemokine which stimulates the locomotion of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and directs their migration toward sites of inflammation.
