Tag Info
Tag-Free
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
Lyophilized from a 0.2 µm filtered PBS, pH 7.4, 0.1 % Tween-80
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Lead Time
5-10 business days
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.

Description

IL-1β is a master pro-inflammatory cytokine that drives NF-κB and MAPK signaling cascades, and this recombinant equine form delivers exceptional potency with an ED50 below 20 pg/ml in a D10S cell proliferation assay, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 5.0 × 10⁷ IU/mg. The tag-free, mature-sequence protein (residues 116–268) produced in *E. coli* faithfully represents the native processed cytokine, making it a suitable basis for equine-specific immune cell activation studies, NF-κB signaling pathway dissection, and use as a reference standard in species-matched cytokine detection assays. Endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg minimize LPS-driven artifacts that would otherwise confound innate immune readouts, which supports use in sensitive functional assays such as primary cell proliferation, macrophage activation, and antibody validation by ELISA. Purity exceeding 95% by SDS-PAGE, combined with this stringent endotoxin control, satisfies the quality criteria typical for both *in vitro* mechanistic studies and *in vivo* equine inflammation models.

Target Background

Function(From Uniprot)
Potent proinflammatory cytokine. Initially discovered as the major endogenous pyrogen, induces prostaglandin synthesis, neutrophil influx and activation, T-cell activation and cytokine production, B-cell activation and antibody production, and fibroblast proliferation and collagen production. Promotes Th17 differentiation of T-cells. Synergizes with IL12/interleukin-12 to induce IFNG synthesis from T-helper 1 (Th1) cells. Plays a role in angiogenesis by inducing VEGF production synergistically with TNF and IL6.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Increased PGE2 production led to reduction in 5-LO products in LPS-treated equine whole blood via IL-1b. PMID:24530239
  2. Results suggested that chemokine expression by cultured equine BECs following exposure to pulmonary hemorrhage conditions may contribute to the development of inflammatory airway disease in horses. PMID:22280393
  3. IL-1beta-induced up-regulation of matrix metalloproteinase 13 mRNA was blocked by all concentrations of geldanamycin tested PMID:17599753
  4. This study examined effects of in vitro exposure to solutions of hay dust, lipopolysaccharides, or beta-glucan on cytokine expression in pulmonary mononuclear cells isolated from healthy horses and horses with recurrent airway obstruction. PMID:18052742
  5. The effects of semen extender and seminal plasma on the expression of inflammatory modulators in the endometrium of mares are reported. PMID:18584861
  6. The acute pulmonary neutrophilia characteristic of recurrent airway obstruction was not associated with an increase in expression of chemokines in pulmonary mononuclear cells from disease-susceptible horses. PMID:19795943
