Abbreviation
Recombinant Human PTN protein (Active)
Purity
>96% as determined by SDSPAGE.
Endotoxin
Less than 1.0 EU/μg as determined by LAL method.
Activity
Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The biological activity was measured by its ability to enhance neurite outgrowth of E16-E18 rat embryonic cortical neurons, when neurons were plated on 96 well culture plates that had been pre-coated with 100 µl/well of a solution of 5-10 µg/ml rHuPTN.

Description
Pleiotrophin is a heparin-binding growth factor with well-established roles in neurite outgrowth, neuronal survival, and angiogenesis, making it a critical tool for neurodevelopmental and tumor biology research. This tag-free recombinant human PTN covers the full mature sequence (residues 33–168) and has been validated for biological activity by demonstrating enhanced neurite outgrowth in E16–E18 rat embryonic cortical neurons at coating concentrations of 5–10 µg/ml, confirming its suitability for neuronal differentiation studies, cell survival assays, and receptor-ligand binding experiments targeting RPTPβ/ζ via ELISA or SPR. Produced in *E. coli*, the protein lacks glycosylation—consistent with the natively unglycosylated character of PTN—which provides a homogeneous preparation appropriate for quantitative binding assays and use as an ELISA standard. Purity exceeding 96% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/µg satisfies the criteria typically required for sensitive primary neuron cultures and in vivo tumor biology models.
