Description
GDNF is a critical neurotrophic factor for dopaminergic neuron survival and differentiation, making high specific activity essential for meaningful in vitro and in vivo studies. This tag-free recombinant human GDNF, spanning the full mature protein (residues 78–211), demonstrates an ED50 below 0.1 ng/mL in rat C6 cell proliferation assays, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 5.0 × 10⁷ IU/mg — potency that supports use in neuronal survival assays, dopaminergic stem cell differentiation protocols, and receptor-ligand binding studies involving the GFRα1/RET signaling complex. E. coli expression yields a non-glycosylated homodimer that provides a defined, consistent baseline for quantitative experiments such as SPR-based competition assays and ELISA standard curves, where glycan heterogeneity could confound interpretation. Purity above 97% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for cell-based neurotrophic assays and in vivo regenerative medicine models exploring neuronal repair.
