Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.

Description
Ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) plays a critical role in neuronal survival, differentiation, and neuroprotection, making it an essential tool for neuroscience researchers studying trophic signaling pathways. This tag-free, full-length human CNTF (1–200 aa) demonstrates robust bioactivity with an ED50 below 150 ng/mL in TF-1 cell proliferation assays, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 6.7 × 10³ IU/mg — providing a reliable basis for neuronal and stem cell survival assays, differentiation studies, and receptor-ligand binding experiments using ELISA or SPR. Because CNTF is a non-glycosylated cytokine, E. coli expression yields a protein that is structurally and functionally equivalent to the native form, eliminating concerns about glycosylation heterogeneity that could confound quantitative assays. Purity exceeding 97% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for sensitive cell-based bioassays and in vivo neuroprotection models.
