Description

The development of the E3L polyclonal antibody follows a well-defined procedure. It initiates with the repeated immunization of a rabbit using recombinant vaccinia virus E3 protein (1-190aa) until an optimal antibody titer is reached. Subsequently, the rabbit's blood is collected, and the antibodies are purified from the serum using protein A/G. The functionality of the resulting E3L antibody is thoroughly assessed through ELISA and WB applications, confirming its specific reactivity with the vaccinia virus E3 protein.

The E3L gene encodes the vaccinia virus E3 protein, a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding protein that inhibits the activation of interferon (IFN)-induced dsRNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR) and acts as an inhibitor of the IFN-induced 2-5A-synthetase enzyme. In addition to IFN-induced antiviral activity, E3 is also a key host-range protein, which suppresses the innate antiviral immune response of the infected cells.
