SFRP2

Secreted frizzled-related protein 2 (SFRP2), also known as FRZB2 and SARP2, is a member of the secreted frizzled-related protein family. It acts as a modulator of the Wnt signaling pathway by binding to Wnt proteins, thereby preventing their interaction with frizzled receptors. This interaction is crucial in regulating cell growth, differentiation, and migration during embryonic development and tissue homeostasis.
Dysregulation of SFRP2 has been associated with various diseases, including cancer and fibrosis. In cancer, abnormal SFRP2 expression can lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation. Regarding drug development, there is ongoing research to target the Wnt - SFRP2 axis, aiming to design therapies that can restore normal signaling and potentially treat associated conditions.
