The progranulin (PGRN) is a secretory glycoprotein composed of multiple tandemly repeated structural domains, capable of hydrolyzing into various granulin peptides. It exhibits broad specificity in cells and tissues, exerting diverse functions through binding with multiple receptors, such as regulating immune cell function and promoting neural regeneration. In neurons, PGRN is secreted in an activity-dependent manner, influencing synaptic structure and function. Although the signaling pathway mechanism of PGRN is not fully understood, it is known to play a crucial role in immune responses and neural system functions, and may be associated with familial neurodegenerative diseases.
