Description
Erythropoietin drives red blood cell production through high-affinity binding to EPOR on hematopoietic progenitors, and recombinant forms must retain native glycosylation to achieve physiological receptor engagement. This yeast-expressed protein, spanning the complete mature sequence (aa 28–193), demonstrates dose-dependent proliferation of TF-1 erythroleukemia cells with an ED50 of 0.3587–9.417 ng/mL, confirming receptor-binding competence suitable for cell proliferation assays, stem cell differentiation studies targeting erythroid lineages, and receptor-ligand competition experiments by ELISA or surface plasmon resonance. The yeast platform provides eukaryotic glycosylation machinery absent in bacterial systems, supporting post-translational modifications critical for EPO bioactivity. Purity exceeding 95% by SDS-PAGE and endotoxin below 1.0 EU/μg align with standards expected in sensitive cell-based assays and antibody characterization workflows where contaminant interference must be minimized.
